Behaviour Support Learning Assistant. (Job reference: Pippins-BSLA-Jan10)
This is an interesting position for a candidate who enjoys a challenge. 32.5 hours per week term time only, job share considered, fixed term until July 2010 with possibility of renewal. Pay scale point 8-13. £13,987 to £16,242 FTE.

Job description.
To work with an individual child in Key Stage1 with the support of the teacher, classroom assistant, whole school staff and parents.
To help the child access education within the classroom whilst being aware of and able to differentiate for her emotional needs.
To continue this social and emotional support in less structured situations, e.g. playground.
To liaise with the child’s parents regarding family targets.

Person Specification
Experience.
Evidence of past experience in working with children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Experience of working with children within a primary school environment in the UK.
Educated to minimum level NVQ2 in Childcare.

Knowledge and skills.
Knowledge of a range of behaviour management strategies.
The ability to make and retain relationships with young people.
The ability to identify potential barriers to learning and engage in strategies to overcome these barriers.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently where necessary.
The ability to learn and share new ideas.
Personal attributes.
Patience and sensitivity in a calm and caring manner whilst maintaining firm boundaries.
An awareness of the needs of the child and use own initiative when responding to these needs.
